Helpmate Domestic Violence Shelter

The goal of this important supportive housing project for a local non-profit is to provide a nurturing, safe, and secure environment for survivors of domestic abuse. Located on a steeply sloping site, this 3-story, 23,500 square foot facility provides 25 single and family apartment units, community kitchens and dining space, and administrative office and counseling space. In addition, the program also includes a fitness room, mom’s lounge, playrooms for kids, an outdoor playground, and an intimate garden. The architectural style is transitional in nature blending a contemporary attitude with traditional local and regional materials and details.
